Good morning, NEASO! For those of us in NEASO-HQ, I know these past few weeks have been filled with anxious anticipation. Sometimes the fear of the unknown is worse than knowing what is to come. I still don’t have much more information than what I shared at our meeting on January 30th. Nonetheless, I thought it would be helpful to schedule meetings with the various cohort groups to hear your specific concerns, answer the questions I can, and give you the opportunity to meet and talk with others in similar circumstances. I have reserved the Chanin Auditorium Side B from 12:00 – 1:00 Tuesday through Friday this week to meet with the various groups. Please feel free to bring your lunch. Here’s the schedule: Tuesday, Feb. 14 Five Years (Tenure) and Under Wednesday, Feb. 15 Temps and Terms Thursday, Feb. 16 Vested but Not Eligible (Five and Up)
Friday, Feb. 17 Eligible for Exit Program NEA has scheduled two meetings on Thursday for those eligible for the Exit Program. I scheduled our meeting with that group to following NEA’s meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting scheduled for your cohort, feel free to attend any of the other meetings. I am not sending individual invitations to specific groups, so you may self-select the meeting that is most appropriate for you to attend. I am also working on a “frequently asked questions” fact sheet compiling the questions I have received thus far. I will send that out separately as soon as it’s done. Update on Édeanna Chebbi Our union sister Édeanna is in Tunisia, working through their court system to regain custody of her children and return them home to the U.S. She seems to be making progress, but this could be a long fight. She has asked for our support in her latest call to action. She’s on leave without pay until she returns with the children, so donations are much needed. Any funds she doesn’t use to get the kids home will go to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. You can donate through the Return Us Home web site listed below. Return US Home Please READ, ACT and FORWARD this latest call to action! Every voice counts! And THANK YOU in advance! Sixth Call to Action In Solidarity, Branita
